　　這首歌Jim Croce創作於1972年。美國地域廣闊，打個電話至另一個地方可能需要接線生來接駁，生活在香港因為地方細，可沒有這回事，不過那時打電話至大陸，廣東省較容易，至雲南上海等較遠則有時會聽到先由接線生接聽然後才轉駁到當地的電話號碼。

　　那時打個電話唔容易，本地無須轉駁，香港打長途要到大東電報局，所以才有這首歌，藉接線生來訴心聲。

　　不容易的事情才令人珍惜，今天人手一部或數部智能電話，卻不懂得如何表達，要用即時通訊軟件講多次結果對方都係唔明白，點解唔直接通過電話呢？

　　文字輸入改用手指寫，連手指寫都懶改用口講，係對住部死物智能電話講，明明電話係用來雖然見唔到面卻能聽到對方聲音而設，點解唔打個電話呢？
