The Last Farewell
據維基百科介紹，原唱者Roger Whittaker（羅傑威特克）在一九七一年主持電台節目時，其中一個環節希望聽眾寄來歌詞由他們譜曲，其中Ron A. Webster寄來了這首詩，配上音樂後便成了這首歌。The Last Farewell中有詳細說明。
Roger Whittaker這首The Last Farewell本來是一首民歌，後來一九七八年皇家方舟號航空母艦退役，海軍樂團改成軍歌形式，由官兵一同唱出這首歌歡送，並錄成單曲唱片，甚至登上流行榜，亦甚受歡迎。
從youtube影片中所見，當時英國的海軍亦有一定實力，戰機已採用蒸氣彈射起飛，而航空母艦和戰機中，英國同時擁有多項專利，包括空中加油技術，戰機降落航空母艦的訊號系統也是由英國發明，並沿用至今。直至英國發明垂直升降戰機，也將前舷甲板升高，改為跳躍起飛，航空母艦逐漸縮小（今天可能成主流，不過已是另一個故事），後來唔使講，大英帝國沒落，昔日風采不復見。
沒有了冒險探索，只有大愛包容與政治正確，想再次重拾輝煌談何容易。有勇氣全民公投退出歐盟，應該給全世界一個示範，要有勇氣和邪惡挑戰，奈何最近見一位女外交人員接受一本書之歡天喜地（見赴任前舉習著作合影），不禁令人懷疑她有否看過莎士比亞的作品？
可能真係外來移民太多，沒有共同理想與價值觀念，再加金錢誘惑，不知英國何時再有這首歌所唱出的勇氣？
